Dancefx Choreography Competition is a professional juried competition recognizing outstanding choreography and choreographers in a premiere concert setting.

Finalists will perform at the legendary Charleston Music Hall (of So You Think You Can Dance fame) located in historic Charleston, South Carolina on Saturday, April 17, 2010.

Charleston offers dancers and families a premiere vacation destination with beaches, award winning cuisine, gorgeous accommodations, fabulous shopping, fun activities and a wealth of history and architecture.

Finalists will be judged by a juried panel of distinguished dance professionals in movement vocabulary, time/rhythm/musical quality, use of space, staging and performance.

All finalists will attend TEN* Saturday evening at the Charleston Music Hall where the top three finalists will be invited to perform an encore presentation of their award winning pieces prior to the DFXCC Award Ceremony. First, second and third place will be recognized with an Official Dancefx Choreography Competition award plaque recognizing excellence in choreography. The first place winner will receive a $500 cash prize.

All entries must be in the jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary or Broadway styles, or a combination there of.

Length of entry is not to exceed 7 minutes. Choreographer and dancers (minimum age of 13) may be professional, amateur, or a combination there of.

Work may be entered by the choreographer or by a dance organization that has hired the choreographer to set the work.

Works will be presented with general stage lighting and no sets.

All performance music must be on CD.

Please submit entries on a DVD or VHS.

All DVD and VHS entries should be marked with Piece Name, Choreographer Name, Dance Organization Name, Contact Name and Phone Number accompanied by one Entry Form and Entry Fee per submission. One piece of choreography per DVD or VHS please.

A maximum number of 3 entries are allowed per choreographer. The entry fee is $30 per submission. Checks should be made payable to the Dancefx Choreography Competition. All submissions must be in no later than December 15, 2009. Finalists will be contacted by February 1, 2010.
